Certificates

Our carrier bags and packaging made of bio-based polyethylene and AlpaGreen are made wholly or partly from plant residues from the wood industry and are certified with the REDcert²logo. This label guarantees that our products are made from biomass that is fully traceable and sustainable and that they meet the requirements of the Renewable Energy Directive (RED II). This European directive contains strict requirements on sustainability, greenhouse gas reduction and environmental protection.

Our carrier bags and packaging made of bioplastic are made from corn starch and are certified by TUV Austria with the OK Compost Industrial label. As a result, they meet the stringent requirements of the European standard EN13432 for compostable packaging. Carrier bags or packaging bearing the OK Compost Industrial label are guaranteed to compost within 12 weeks in an industrial composting plant (at temperatures of 55°C to 60°C). The label applies to the entire carrier bag or packaging, including ink and additives.

Some of our bioplastic packaging, especially thinner films such as mailing film, bear the OK Compost Home label and comply with European standard EN13432 as well. The same tests are carried out for the Home label as for the OK Compost Industrial label, but the temperature and period of testing are different. Home-certified products compost at lower and less constant temperatures, typical of the garden compost heap. Products bearing the OK Compost Home label may be deposited on the compost heap at home as well as in the bio-waste bin.
